Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER)

Ontario-Energy-Rebate-(OER)_Nov-2025-Update.png

Please note that the Ontario government’s Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER) has also now changed to 23.5%. The OER provides a rebate on the electricity bill subtotal for residential, small business, and farm customers. For a typical residential customer who uses 700 kWh of electricity per month, the OER will decrease bills by about $36.71 each month.

Effective November 1, 2024, the Ontario Government made changes to the Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER), which is a pre-tax credit that appears at the bottom of customers’ electricity bills. This change was done in accordance with O. Reg. 363/16 (General) made under the Ontario Rebate for Electricity Consumers Act, 2016, which is available on Ministry of Energy’s website at: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/160363

Ontario Electricity Market Price

On May 1, 2025, the Independent Electricity System Operation (IESO) will replace the Hourly Ontario Energy Price (HOEP) with the Ontario Electricity Market Price (OEMP). The OEMP leverages new day-ahead market price calculations, which aims to deliver significant value to the system and Ontario consumers. More information to come on the OEMP and how it will affect non-RPP commercial customers.
